Glee is one of the first TV series that I was able to watch before it got into the new seasons. At the bottom of this post I have posted the pilot video for any of you who wish to watch. Which should be everybody whether you've seen it already or not. I was skeptical at first about Glee, but against my better judgment decided to watch it. I LOVED IT!!!! Glee is hysterical! My favorite character is Sue Sylvester the cheerleading coach played by Jane Lynch. She calls her cheerleaders "cheerios." One of my favorite parts of Glee was when Emma Pillsburry, the guidance counselor and Sue Sylvester argue about the budget cuts:
Emma - "Hey whats with all the coffee?"
Sue - "Oh, Emma I just felt so awful that Figgins cut the coffee budget to pay for a nutritionist for the cheerios."
Emma - "Yeah I heard you guys went like, $600 dollars over budget on that.
Sue - "My performers didn't get on FOX sports net last year because they ate at Bacon Junction-"
Emma - "Since when are cheerleaders performers?"
*pause*
Sue - "Your resentment... is delicious."
Every time I watch that scene I ROFL! And then when Will Schuester tells Principal Figgins he wants to take over glee club:
Will - "I want to take over glee club."
Figgins - "You want to captain the Titanic 2?"
This is the best TV show about high school that's been on in a while. I hope it stays as hilarious as I find it now unlike the USA TV series Psych. Season one of Psych I loved but by season two they had a new writer and it all went down hill from there. So I'm sticking with Glee. The next episode is premiering on September 9th, 2009. It's named "Showmance." Let's cross our fingers and hope its as good as the pilot was. One of the best parts was the backround music. Whenever someone would get angry the music would be people singing a capella say num-num-num-num-num-num-num-num-num-num-num-num-num-num-num-num-num-num-num-num-num-num-num... I loved that. And when Emma signs up to be a chaperone with Will to Caramel High school the music was people singing Ooo woo woo ooo ooo- Ooo woo woo ooo ooo- Ooo woo woo ooo ooo. Well on writing it seems stupid. Plus I can't give you the pitch of their voices using words. Well, I guess I could... but I'm not going to. It sounds great and its a new idea, one that I wouldn't have thought of. It makes the show more unique and not as blah-ze and mainstream.
Characters:
Note: SPOILERS!! If you have not yet seen the pilot episode I suggest you go to the bottom of the page to the video to watch it now before you continue to read this blog post!
Will Schuester: A spanish teacher at McKinley high school. He wants to take over glee club after Sandy Ryerson is fired.
Emma Pillsburry: Is a guidance counselor at McKinley high. She likes Will but knows he is married and unavailable. She is Will's entire support system in the pilot. Emma is also a grem-a-phobe. Before she eats at a table she will disinfect it with Lysol wipes.
Sue Sylvester: McKinley High's cheerleading coach. She believes strongly in the high school's caste system proven in this quote from the movie:
Sue - "In high school there's a caste system and kids fall into certain slots. Now, you have your cheerleaders and popular kids up in the penthouse. Your invisibles and your online trolls and warlocks, bottom floor."
Will - "So where are the glee club kids?"
Sue - "Sub-basement."
She is the source for a lot of the humor in the pilot.
Sandy Ryerson: The old music teacher who is fired in the pilot. Will meets him again in the store, "Sheets and Things," where his wife works and finds that Sandy has become a drug dealer and calls himself, the "Chronic Lady." He is fired because of Rachel Berry.
Ken Tanaka: McKinley high's football coach. He has a thing for Emma but she refuses him every time with excuses like:
"I'm having my period."
or
"I'm allergic to nighttime."
Which the coach actually believes. He is also a client for the Chronic Lady.
Principal Figgins: An unenthusiastic principal, he forces Will to pay him $60 a month to keep glee club going. Once the glee club starts bringing as much prestige to the school as the cheerleaders are he can have all the money he wants.
Rachel Berry: A student and member of the McKinley high glee club. She is EXTREMELY enthusiastic about her image and wants to become famous one day.
"Listen, Mr. Schuester I know I'm only a sophomore but I can feel the clock ticking and I don't want to leave high school with nothing to show for it." Rachel is responsible for getting Sandy Ryerson fired.
"He was touching Hank... caressing him. It was so wrong!" Hank being a student in show choir. Sandy gave Hank the solo Rachel felt she deserved so she made up a story.
Finn Hudson: Finn is the quarter back for the football team. Will Schuester hears him singing in the shower room and forces Finn to join glee club by saying he found pot in his locker. The pot given to Will by Sandy Ryerson.
"Mr. Schuester I don't know where that came from. I swear! I'll pee in a cup!"
By the end of the episode Finn joins the glee club by his own will.
Quinn Fabray: Head cheerleader, Finn's girlfriend and president of the celibacy club.
Kurt Hummel: A member of the glee club. It is unclear whether Kurt is gay or straight. Although he seems to be gay in the next episode, Showmance, Mercedes seems to be persuing a relationship with him.
Mercedes Jones: A member of the glee club. She is the club's most steel lunged and dramatic members.
Artie Abrams: A member of the glee club. Artie is a cripple and is the target of many jokes and insults. However, he has a great voice.
Tina Cohen-Chang: A member of the glee club. Tina has a stutter and is barely heard in most scenes however whenever she does talk she is funny.
